Dr appointment

Until this point I have never given Keilah or myself a flu shot because I have not felt it was necessary. This year, however, Keilah will be getting the flu shot. She is in church nursery three times per week and is exposed to a lot more kids than she has been in the past. I know the flu shot isn't perfect or protect against everything, but hopefully we won't get sick too frequently!

This morning we went in to get her flu shot, but decided to delay it until the end of the month. Keilah's allergies/congestion moved up to her right ear resulting in a raging ear infection on Friday night. She was obviously in a bit of pain after dinner on Friday, so I gave her some tylenol and put her to bed. I had planned to take her to urgent care Saturday morning if she was still in pain the next morning. Plans changed when she woke up at 9:00pm on Friday night screaming in pain. I had a left over Rx for ammoxicillin from a couple weeks ago that the ped had given me just in case Keilah had a UTI (turns out she did not, so I still had the script). I really hesitated giving her antibiotics without her being seen and diagnosed by a doctor, but when she woke up screaming I did what I felt I needed to do. The next morning she woke up much better. She complained about it a couple times, but never cried. This morning the doctor confirmed that she did have a nasty ear infection...so I did do the right thing by giving her the meds. I did find out that my ped and her partner rotate being on call everynight/weekend, all I have to do is call the office and leave a message and one of them will call me back. Good to know for next time! Because of the ear infection we are delaying the flu shot until the end of the month when we go back for Katelynn's 4 month visit.

While we were there we decided to weigh Katelynn for the fun of it. She weighed 14 lbs, but that was with clothes on, so probably more like 13.5 lbs or so.
