It has been quite a busy week!
I was without a car on Thursday and Friday. Jason stayed home from work on Thursday so I could go to the doctor and have my arm looked at. Nothing new to report, just to keep using the burn cream on it. Friday was a pretty uneventful day.
Monday I picked up a rental so that I wouldn't be stuck at home all week.
Wednesday morning I received a phone call from my insurance company that my car was indeed a total loss.
Thursday I received a call from the total loss adjuster with an offer for my car. Their offer was $4k more than what we were expecting, so that was a pleasant suprise!
This afternoon (Friday) we had an appointment to go see a used van at a small used car dealer. I had some reservations going into the appointment, but we went down there anyways to check it out. Before going in I felt it was important to take the time and pray that the Lord would give us wisdom and guidance in making this decision and that He would make it abundantly clear if we were not to buy this car. God is so good! When we got there the man we were supposed to meet had stepped out for a couple minutes. That gave us an opportunity to inspect the vehicle critically without a salesperson breathing down our necks. While the van was advertised as having a clean carfax record, there were several signs that the vehicle had been in some sort of accident. Needless to say we hightailed it out of there.
We made our way over to the dealership and ended up buyin a new van. I know we could have spent less money buying used, however time was not on our side since my car was totaled. I have been scouring the internet all day everyday for over a week and have not been able to find the exact car with the exact features I was looking for. We are planning to have this car for the long haul, so it made sense to get the features that mattered most to us (ok...me). I am so excited!! We bought an 8 passenger Toyota Sienna LE in white. I know, I know...it is a minivan. An SUV just didn't make sense for us. We want to have at least 2 more kids and I need room for both passengers and cargo. You can't get that in an SUV except a suburban and I didn't want a big ol' bohemoth. So we have officially joined the ranks of soccer moms and soccer dads. :)
In other news, my arm is almost healed. I am absolutely amazed at how quickly it is healing. I imagine by next week it will be completely gone.
Merry Christmas!!!

Welcome to the club, minivan mom! I'm glad you're healing quickly. God is good!
I noticed the pitch of Jason's voice was a little bit higher this weekend. Did that have anything to do with the mini-van. Hmmm... ;)
