Mommy & Keilah "date night"

I have been wanting to take Keilah to Disneyland at night to see the shows and fireworks ever since we bought our passes in January. She loves music, singing, and dancing so I thought she'd really enjoy the special events at Disney. When Keilah woke up from her nap yesterday she saw me packing pajamas and asked if she was sleeping at gramma's house. I told her that Katie was going to go to sleep at gramma's and the her and I were going to go out and do something fun together. Keilah's response was "Like a date? Just like you and daddy?" Sure! It's a date!

After spending a few hours at gramma's house, Keilah and I said goodbye to Katie and headed out on our date. When we first got there I asked her if she wanted me to bring the stroller, to which she said no (ha!). The first thing we did was watch the parade on Main Street. Around 7:30 she started to get tired and wanted me to hold her pretty much the whole time, which I did except for when we were sitting. Keilah finally decided she was hungry at 9:00pm, so we bought dinner (we've been going to Disney almost weekly since January and this was the first time we bought food, so it was a rare treat!) and ate it while sitting in the middle of the street waiting for fireworks to begin. Poor thing was so hungry she barely came up for air! (Totally not my fault though! I had been asking her if she wanted to eat for hours prior.) Immediately after fireworks we ran to claim a seat among the already packed out crowd for Fantasmic. By this time it was 10:00pm and the show was not set to start until 10:30pm. Keilah was exhausted and completely passed out on my lap waiting for the show to start. I considered leaving and taking her home, but figured that after a short nap she'd be ok once the show actually started. It took several minutes to wake her up, but once she realized what was going on her eyes were wide with excitement. She loved all of the performances! As we were walking out of the park she kept talking about how much fun it was and how cool the shows were. According to Keilah, her favorite was the parade with all the singing and dancing.

While it may have been nice to have the stroller, I'm actually kinda glad I did not have it. The crowds at the firewords and Fantasmic were so packed that it would have been hard to navigate with a stroller without running over peoples' ankles. I put Keilah up on my shoulders and it was much easier to walk quickly though the crowds, especially once Fantasmic was over and we were trying to hightail it out of the park before the masses. We finally got to the car around 11:20pm and headed back to gramma's to pick up Katie before going home.

It was really good for her and I to go out and have some fun together, just one-on-one. Definitely something I want to try and do more frequently with her.

Just a few picture from our night:
