Life with 3 kids

Jason and I had our first glimpse of what life would be like with 3 kids this weekend. My sister and her husband went to a marriage retreat, so we cared for our 13 month old niece, Kristin, from Friday to Sunday. It was a lot of fun and was not nearly as hard as we thought it was going to be. We did have to borrow Jason's mom's suburban because there is absolutely no way I can fit 3 carseats across the backseat of my Accord. [Note to self: buy a new car before the next kid comes. :) ]

Although Keilah has recently adjusted to having to share our time with Katie, she has not yet had to share her toys. It was quite obvious that Keilah was not too keen on the idea of sharing....which is so odd to me because she does well sharing on playdates. Maybe she could sense that Kristin wasn't going to be leaving in a couple hours?? :scratch head: In typical 2 year-old fashion, Keilah hoarded all of her toys into the corner of the kitchen and moved all the Leapfrog refrigerator magnets up high where Kristin could not reach them. Keilah would then swoop in on whatever toy Kristin was slowly toddling towards, snatch it up, and then run back and forth between the front door and the kitchen with Kristin slowly following. It was like watching the tortise and the hare in my living room, lol.

Friday night we took the girls to the LA County Fair. Our good friend Matthew was there working at a friend's gelatto booth (YUM!!!) and we wanted to see him. [side story: we tried to go to the fair on Wednesday. We got all the way there and in the line to park when we realized Jason's wallet was in the other car and we had no cash and no atm cards between us. So much for the fair :sigh: The next day Matthew was kind enough to give us free tickets and a parking pass!!] We stopped by and said hi to Matthew and then went in search of dinner. After we ate we took the kids to the barn to look at all the animals-cows, goats, pigs, etc. It was fun. Kristin wasn't too into it, but Keilah seemed to like it. We headed back to the gelatto booth to spend more time with Matthew. Unfortunately, he was busy elsewhere so we did not get to see him again :bummer!: but we did taste the gelatto and it was delicious! The girls really liked it. Keilah loves ice cream and inhaled it. Kristin wasn't too sure about it at first. She made a really funny face because it was cold, but then realized how good it was. I could not feed them fast enough, lol. [don't worry Kris...I barely coated her spoon so she did not get a whole lot. ;) ]

The only way to do things with 3 kids under 3 years old (btw I don't like this pic of me...but it does show my new beco!!)
Keilah and Kristin taking in all the lights and sounds of the midway

Saturday we spent most of the day at home because someone was always napping. [Note to self: get kids on the same napping schedule when Katie is old enough!] We did manage to leave for a couple hours and went to Gramma's for dinner and to run around outside in the back yard.

Sunday we took all the kids to church. I must stop and brag for a minute because I am so proud of Jason and myself. We woke up at our normal time and even with the extra person to get ready and feed in the morning we were only 4 minutes late leaving the house! Woohoo!!

Kristin went home Sunday afternoon after we met Justin and Kristy for lunch [thank you!!] Hopefully she will be back in October so J/K can enjoy their anniversary. That will be a test to see if I can manage all 3 of them alone!! ;)

Congrats on taking care of 3 kids - really well! You really made me think about going for the 3rd again. Argh! Great job with all 3 girls and getting to church on time. You're my hero! Good test run for Keilah for when Katie gets mobile.
