The girls and I left the house pretty early in the morning to make it down to Poway in time for the Poway Days Parade. It is a cute little community parade that I grew up going to every year. It was Keilah's first parade. At first she was a bit scared of the high school bands, but by the time the last one had passed she was enjoying it. She liked waving to the other kids in the parade, although she often did it after they had already walked past her. There were some people passing out candy, so I gave in and allowed her to enjoy her first lollipop. She savored it lick by lick through most of the parade.
All of grandma's 5 children (my mom and her siblings) had gone through grandma's things the previous day. Today they were allowing all the grandchildren to go through the remaining items to choose something to remeber her by. I chose 2 tiny silver rings and her sewing kit. Before she had died, grandma had also given me a gold/pearl ring. I figure some day I will give the rings to Keilah and Katelynn. I am very glad that grandma had a chance to meet Katelynn a couple weeks before she passed, but I am so bummed that I did not have my camera on me to take a picture of her holding Katelynn.
One of the highlights of the day was watching my mom snuggle with Katelynn as we sat outside on the patio.
